We often find it necessary to explain our business to people, because they are only accustomed to LARGE telephone companies and do not understand how prepaid service works. New East Telephony, Inc. dba Down Home Telephone is a prepaid local telephone company. Prepaid local phone service is a fairly new market which is growing rapidly. For many reasons, there are large numbers of people who cannot get service with Sprint, Bell South, etc. The Telecom Act of 1996 permitted small companies, like us, to provide telephone service to those residences and businesses. Prepaid local telephone service (dial tone) allows residences and businesses to make local, toll free, 911, collect and even long distance calls as long as a phone card is used. Features such as Call Waiting, Call Forwarding and Return Call can be added to for additional charges. Since this service is prepaid, there are no deposits, no credit checks and no identification needed to sign up. |
